about

…Where Your City Stood is the second album from Philadelphia’s Ruby Keeler. Recorded in late 2000, this series of demos was made for an album that was the follow up to Shiver Shiver (Route 14 Records). Part of the Philly scene that birthed the Lilys, Ruby Keeler brought an eclectic mellow gloom which was developed further on …Where Your City Stood to feature baroque arrangements while still retaining hooks galore. The album includes both sides of the now hard-to-find 7” Dotti Hoffman, which they performed on the legendary US TV show Chic-a-go-go. Ruby Keeler create the kind of cinematic, angular indie that is perfect for fans of angular rock and shoegaze and with its brilliant rhythm section undergirding layers of sound in the tradition of the great 2-guitar bands; Ruby Keeler might be the last great undiscovered band of the 90s.

about

Ruby Keeler Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Ruby Keeler was born in the last micro-generation when musicians met through ads placed in shop windows. This one in Spaceboy Records, on South Street. It brought together fans of shoegaze, surf, The Misfits, weirdo rock and giallo film. Part of the scene that birthed the Lilys, RK created an eclectic mellow gloom; haunting Philly's clubs - The Khyber, Upstages, the North Star and Silk City. ... more
